Summary this data set provides a landcover map with 16 landcover classes for the northern coastal plain of the the arctic national wildlife refuge (anwr) on the north slope of alaska. The map at right shows the ranges of several of them, including four species protected by the endangered species act (esa) that depend on the refuge: As many as 300,000 snow geese visit the coastal plain each fall to feed on the tundra.
